Exercise 1-E

Discover and Express the Truth Turn Inward for Truth
Feelings of resentment, obsession, or vengeance indicate that there is a crisis in communication. This soul test challenges you to turn inward to discover and express a deeper truth. To thine own Self be true. Seek to understand yourself first, and your betrayer second. Learn to develop and use good communication skills when you share your truth with others. When you are ready to communicate to your betrayer-initiator, practice using “I” statements instead of “you” statements.

Write about them in your journal or may we suggest you print exercises 1e to 1i

To deepen your inner work, ask yourself:
1. What are my doubts about the other person?
2. What are my judgments or criticisms of their behavior or actions toward me?
3. What hurts me the most?
4. Why does this hurt so much? What is my interpretation of their behavior?
5. What have I withheld saying to them?
6. What would happen if I said that? What are my fears?

Exercise 1-F

Know and Own the Shadow in Yourself
Relax, Release, Receive
Denial of the positive in your betrayer leads to shadow projection and bitter resignation. This soul test challenges you to discover and own the shadow in yourself. Develop compassion for yourself and others. Learn to relax fear reactions. Strive to release self-righteousness by recognizing both positive and negative traits within yourself. Continue to receive inner direction.

Relax your body and mind. Use breathing techniques or physical exercise, or talk to a friend to release tension. Practice releasing attachment to outcomes. Be gentle with yourself. Learn to perceive both positive and negative qualities in both your betrayer and yourself.

To discover and own your shadow, use your righteous resentment as a guide. Make a list of the negative traits of your betrayer. Circle the one trait that bothers you the most. Now ask yourself:
7. What is my past experience with this trait?
8. Have I ever acted (or wanted to act) like that?
9. What motivated me when I acted in that manner?
10. What bothers, upsets, or scares me most about acting that way?
11. What sets this fear pattern into motion?
12. Am I ready to be free of this pattern?

Exercise 1-G

Be Aware of Your Special Soul Challenges
Use Intuition to Understand
Cynicism leads to generalization and stereotyping. This soul test challenges you to understand the highest good, deeper meaning, and special gift or soul purpose that is unique to you and furthers your personal spiritual growth. Develop your intuition to gain greater awareness.

Use inner and outer resources to recognize, accept, and release your personal and cultural preconceptions, prejudices, and patterns. Draw on
intuitive tools—tarot, astrology, runes, I Ching, prayer, and friends and family. Keep your observing Self present.

To gain insight into the personal message, unique soul challenge, teaching, meaning, or deeper purpose hidden in your betrayal experience, recall your shadow work in Exercise 1-F. After you have reviewed your personal history and identified the patterns of behavior that constitute your fear reaction, ask yourself:
13. What in me has perpetuated this pattern?
14. What did my soul have in mind for me by bringing me this situation?
15. What is the highest teaching my soul wanted me to learn from this?
16. What is the best possible outcome for me in my life as I integrate this teaching?
17. Is there any additional guidance for me at this time that will assist me further?

Exercise 1-H

Rediscover and Recommit to Your Dream
Speak, Share, Stand Up
Self-betrayal, self-rejection, and self-abandonment are the result of your denial of your dreams, values, or vital vision. This soul test challenges you to rediscover and recommit to your dreams. Learn to take a stand in life, speak your truth, and share your insights, awareness, and dreams. Use creative visualization and affirmation to empower your vital vision. Commit to cooperating with your creative Source. Make this your primary relationship. Use self-reflection, contemplation, prayer, and meditation to open communication.

Develop your relationship with yourself as your primary relationship. Treat yourself the way you wish to be treated. Use this ideal relationship as a model for your interactions with others. Practice becoming a cocreator with your inner Source. Ask yourself:
18. Based on the best possible outcome, what are my ideals, dreams, and visions?
19. What am I like in my most ideal Self in relationship to my betrayer?
20. When did I stop being that way in our relationship? What trigger disempowered me?
21. What can I do to help me grow stronger, to support me in living out my ideals?
22. Can I do that now with my betrayer? Why or why not?

Exercise 1-I

Train Yourself to TRUST
Try Again and TRUST
Paranoid fear, control, and manipulation arise in direct proportion to your denial of your existential freedom to be. This soul test teaches you to trust the process of life that returns you to your true spiritual source within. Remember that you are spiritually free. Allow others the same freedom. Learn to ACT, and TRUST the process that takes you on your soul's journey from betrayal to trust and forgiveness.

Fear reactions, such as anxiety, worry, anger, or hurt, are natural when we act in new and unfamiliar ways. Observe your emotional reactions and use them as an intuitive signal to return within for further guidance. Coming to trust yourself is both the process and the goal of this universal rite of passage.

When you are faced with tension or feedback that causes you to pause, try to turn inward first, rather than react. Ask yourself:
23. What blocks me from being “me” when I am with my betrayer?
24. What would happen if I were my true self? What is my worst fear or paranoia?
25. Has this fear ever been realized in this lifetime or past lifetimes?
26. What was the pattern or repeating theme?
27. What was the soul lesson or teaching?

Rest assured, this is a confidential exercise, meant for you alone. Your responses cannot be sent anywhere or saved in any medium.

Congratulations! You've reviewed all the exercises for Chapter 1.
